DO WE NEED FAITH FOR HEALING?

Is faith that important? Is it central in receiving and understanding the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Did Jesus teach on faith? Do we need faith to receive our healing? Do we really need to live by faith?

The answer to these questions is a resounding YES!

If we don’t understand what faith is, the Gospel of Jesus Christ will be degraded to a set of moral values, a philosophical way of living in this earth, with religious tradition and law.

THE IMPORTANCE OF FAITH IN THE BIBLE
As a casual reader of the New Testament, one can begin to see that this topic of faith is an important issue.

Jesus himself taught on this subject in detail, over and over again during his earthly ministry.

Paul even went so far as to say that this is the message which he preached, and if any one taught another gospel, let that person be accursed.

The Lords own Brother James, the Pastor of the Jerusalem Christian Church, dedicated his whole letter to the subject of faith.

In fact as you begin reading the Old Testament in light of this truth; one can begin seeing the importance of faith in the lives of the old patriarchs. In fact their successes and failures, in life, revolved around their ability to operate in and live by faith.

A while back the Lord led me to begin sharing this message of faith for several weeks here at our Healing School. Through this teaching a powerful anointing was realized, and many who faithfully attended these healing services received answers to their prayers, and healing for their bodies.

WHY DO WE NEED FAITH
Let’s take a look at what the Apostle John had to say about it through inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

In I John 5:4 we read;

“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”

The Word of God makes it clear; Faith is the victory that overcomes the world.

What does the scripture mean when it refers to “the world.”? This phrase is referring to a system of thought, belief and behavior. It is a way of living in this earth.

This system is void of a knowledge of God and His promises. It is based on mans experience, natural reasoning, and philosophy.

The worlds system has its limited carnal rewards, and unfortunately it also has its limitations, problems, and consequences. Its system is in a negative downward spiral which ends in death.

Understanding faith and how faith works then, is essential in overcoming this system and its consequences.

WHAT IS FAITH?

To start out with we can define faith from a biblical perspective this way:
Faith is simply Gods system of thinking, believing and behaving that receives and experiences what He promised.

Living by faith unleashes Gods life to you. God’s life is His creative, supernatural, all-powerful, liberating, overcoming way of living in this earth.
Look at what the Holy Spirit communicated in the book of Hebrews concerning faith.

In Hebrews 6:12 we read:

“That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises”

Notice the word inherit here.

Inherit means to receive. It also means; to get, or to take ownership of.

There is no question about it. God very clearly reveals to us here that if we are going to take ownership of the promises of God we are going to have to do through His system of faith and patience.
Faith and patience receives and experiences the promise of salvation. It secures the promise of deliverance, the promise of healing, the promise of freedom, and every promise of God that we find in His Word.

For example In Exodus 15:26 the Lord gives us a promise. He said; “I will put none of these diseases upon thee.... For I am the Lord that healeth thee.”

And then over in Malachi 3:6 He declares yet another promise; “For I am the Lord, I change not.”

So we can ascertain from these scriptures, that God will never change His mind when it comes to healing your body.

Sadly there are some people that believe deceptive religious lies, which say “God puts sickness on people to teach them something." Or, "God put sickness on them so that another person wouldn’t have to bare it."

No, God doesn’t put sickness and disease on you. That belief is completely contrary to the Word of God. These types of beliefs are part of that ungodly world system of thought that limits you and imprisons you from experiencing the life God ordained you to live in and enjoy.

GOD NEVER CHANGES! That’s a promise! HE IS THE ONE THAT HEALS!

In 1 John 4:18 the Bible declares that God is love, and in 1 Corinthians 13:8 the Bible tells us that love never fails. Therefore we can conclude that God will never fail!

He told Joshua in Joshua 1:5 “As I was with Moses, I will be with thee I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” In Acts 10:34 we see it written, where God is no respecter of persons, meaning what He does for one person, He will do for all.

So these promises are true for you and I as well. God will never fail us! He will be with us, and He will always come through for you and I.

That means God will always heal our bodies! He will always prosper us. He will always love us. He will always be with us. He will always save us
“For all the promises of God in him are yes and in him Amen, unto the Glory of God by us." (2 Corinthians 1:20)
The answer to every prayer you pray according to His will, the answer to every promise of God, is always yes and Amen.

When you and I find out what God promises in His Word, and then pray according to that Word, God will always respond with a resounding YES!

That means God will never say no to His promise of healing your body!

If we don’t know how to receive that yes, we will never experience Gods answer to our prayer for healing!

FAITH IS SIMPLY BELIEVING WHAT GOD SAID
Look at the promise from Jesus that is found in the Great Commission! In Mark 16:15-18. Jesus said; “Go into all the world and preach this Gospel to every creature. He that believes and is baptized shall be saved.”
The word saved here has been translated from the Greek word sozo. Sozo has a much broader definition than just being spiritually saved. It literally can be translated as saved, healed, delivered, protected, preserved, and made whole.

Yes, he that believes the gospel shall be saved, but he also; shall be healed, shall be delivered, shall be protected, preserved, and made whole! Glory to God!

But he that does not believe, the opposite will happen to him. He will experience damnation, sickness, and bondage.

In the great commission Jesus also promised that you and I who believe, should lay hands on the sick, and the sick shall recover. (Mark 16:18)

He didn't say that they might recover; He said that they shall recover!

Listen, it was Jesus Who promised this! It wasn't some comfort seeking American preacher who said that.

Healing for your body is a promise in the Great Commission. And we as believers have been commanded by Jesus to preach this Gospel and have been commissioned by Him to lay hands on the sick and expect the sick to recover!

Now notice Jesus said, he that believes, will be saved, healed, delivered and made whole. He that believes will lay hands on the sick and see them healed.

To believe simply means to have faith!  Faith receives the promise of healing.

WHY DO WE NEED FAITH?
Because Jesus said, he who believes, he who has faith, will receive the promises of God!

RELEASE THE ANOINTING IN THE WORD

When dealing with sickness, disease, and infirmities, it takes the power of God to remove it and destroy it in your life. His Anointing is more powerful than anything that would attempt to hold you in bondage. Understanding how to release the anointing of God will cause you to experience His freedom and cause you to overcome in life.

YOU ARE BLESSED

YOUR HEALING BEGINS IN YOUR HEART

Your heart is the beginning place where your life begins. Physical healing begins in your heart. The burden that needs to be removed and the yoke that needs to be destroyed starts in your heart. The result of preaching the Anointed Word is the healing of broken hearts.

HOW THE ANOINTING IS GIVEN

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. (Acts 10:38)

YOU ARE BLESSED

THE ANOINTING DESTROYS SICKNESS

"The Anointing of God removes burdens, and destroys the yoke of sin, (the curse), which is sickness, poverty, and spiritual death."

LIFE IN YOUR BODY

“But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken you mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.”
( Romans 8:11)

The work of the Holy Spirit is to quicken our mortal bodies. The word quicken here is the Greek word “zoopoieo” which means; TO MAKE LIFE. In fact when we begin to study this word out, we see where “zoo” is actually derived from the word Zoe which means the very life of God Himself.

Glory to God;  Think about that for a moment. The day we confess Jesus Christ as our Lord, we receive the Holy Spirit. The purpose of the Holy Spirit is to MAKE GODS LIFE manifest in our mortal bodies.

Rory Synoground ministering at Healing School
God is eternal; therefore His life is not subject to death. Sickness and disease are death in progress, so therefore Gods life is not subject to sickness, and disease. In fact we could safely say that Gods life is FREE from any oppressive work of the devil.

The truth is His life overcomes and destroys sickness and disease. (John 1:4-5) This LIFE of God, which is LIFE in the absolute sense, can be at work in you by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Some people have thought that Paul, in Romans 8:11, was referring to the resurrection of the saints. The day the Lord Jesus returns, the dead in Christ will rise first, and we which are alive will be caught up together with them. (1 Thessalonians 4:16,17) Even though the rapture of the saints is a scriptural truth, we would be taking Romans 8:11 out of context if we placed this interpretation on it.

I encourage you to read Romans chapters 6,7, and 8 together and you will see that Paul was revealing what the Holy Spirit is doing now in our bodies, not what He will do in the future.

The word “mortal” (thneta in the Greek) here in Romans 8:11 actually means “subject to death, but not yet dead.” According to Romans 5:12, death entered into the world by sin. Again, sickness is death in progress. Sin is the reason our bodies became subject to sickness, disease, and death.

Romans 8:2 now reveals that the “...Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has MADE ME FREE from the law of sin and death.”.

2 Corinthians 4:11 says “For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be MADE MANIFEST in our mortal (or subject to death) flesh.”

John Calvin an excellent Greek scholar once said “The quickening of the mortal body here cannot refer to the resurrection of the saints, but must mean a giving of life to their bodies while here upon earth through the Spirit.”

The work of the Holy Spirit is to keep making Zoe life in our bodies. He is not to work death. God has been given a black eye over the years. He was the one blamed for all the sicknesses, diseases and death in this world. It is contrary to what Romans 8:11 reveals to us.

2 Corinthians 3:6 says; “. . .the spirit giveth LIFE.”

God does not place sickness on you!

Sickness is the result of sin entering into the world. In fact He has made away for us to receive His life to combat and make us free from sickness, disability, deformity, and disease.

Glory to God, this must be forever settled in your heart. The work of the Holy Spirit is to make “LIFE IN YOUR BODY”

Unfortunately He can be, and will be hindered from doing this work, if we do not cooperate with Him. Paul further explains the work of the Holy Spirit in verse 26 of Romans chapter 8; “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities; for we know not what we should pray for as we ought but the Spirit itself (Himself) maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

Paul describes how the Holy Spirit makes life in our bodies. The word “helpeth” (sunantilambanetai in the Greek) means to “take hold together with, against”.  Paul is saying that the Spirit will take hold together with someone against their infirmities.

Who does He take hold together with?

YOU!

He must work together with YOU to successfully come against your infirmity. The word “infirmities”(astheneiais in the Greek) means sickness, disease, and weaknesses.

The Holy Spirit will make life, to work against the sicknesses, diseases and weaknesses that plague your body, if YOU take hold together with Him.

He will make health, instead of sickness, strength instead of weakness, and life instead of death.

We must do our part! How do we do this? We do this by hearing, believing, and abiding in His Word.

In John 8:31-32 Jesus said to those who believe; “. . .If ye continue in my word than you are my disciples indeed. And you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

According to John 14:17 the Holy Spirit IS The Spirit of Truth. Therefore we can conclude that the Spirit of truth, will make us FREE from sickness and disease if we take hold together with Him by continuing in His Word.

Yes, PRAISE GOD, we can expect to walk free from sickness and disease today. We can expect healing and divine health to be an active part of our life. The Holy Spirit is here and available to release the very life of God Himself into your body making you free!

Take hold together with Him today by abiding in His Word, and out of your heart will flow the issues of life, bringing health and medicine to all your flesh. (Proverbs 4:20-23)

HE TAKES SICKNESS AWAY FROM YOU

YOUR HEALING IS PAID FOR

by Rory Synoground

"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed" (Isa. 53:5).

The blood of Jesus Christ has purchased our freedom. Yes, He purchased our freedom—spirit, soul, and body. When we read chapter 53 of Isaiah, we can clearly see this truth revealed. In verse 4 we read: "Surely He (Jesus) has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted."

The Hebrew word for "grief" here is "choliy." This word actually means anxiety, calamity, disease, or sickness. It is derived from a root word "chalah" which means to be weak, sick or afflicted.

When we see this word translated "grief" in the King James Version of the Bible, we can see that it includes a whole lot more than just grieving.

Now take a look at the word "sorrows." The Hebrew word for "sorrows" is "makob." This word has in it the definitions of anguish, poverty, affliction, and pain. It is derived from a root word "kaab" which means to feel pain, to have pain, to make sad.

As we begin to dig into the Word of God, we begin to uncover priceless treasures and life giving truth that only His Word has to offer.

A more accurate translation then of Isaiah 53:4 would be: "Surely He has borne our anxieties and sicknesses, and carried our anguish, and pain."

Praise God! Do you know what this means? Jesus bore our anxieties and sicknesses, so we wouldn't have to bare them. He also carried our mental anguish and pain away so we wouldn't have to endure them as well.

To fully understand this, we need to look at two other words in this passage of scripture.

The first is the word "borne." The Hebrew word for "borne" is "nasa" which means to bear in a sense of suffering punishment for something.

In Leviticus 5:1 we see it written: "And if a soul sin...then he shall bear [nasa] the punishment for his iniquity." This means Jesus became our substitute. He bore the punishment of sickness in our stead.

This same Hebrew word, "nasa" is used in Isaiah 53:12, "and He was numbered with the transgressors; and He bare [nasa] the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."

How did Jesus bare our sins? He did it vicariously, as our substitute. No one argues with that fact that we needed a divine intercessor for our sins. But I want you to realize that Jesus also came and vicariously bore our sicknesses, poverty, and pain the exact same way!

Yes, it is true: Jesus Christ not only suffered emotionally, by being rejected, but He shed His blood for our sin nature and for our physical bodies as well.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 makes it clear:
"What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

The word "bought" here means "I buy or redeem." Christ has bought us wholly, making us His property at the price of His shed blood. The work of the cross was complete. Nothing was left undone. He has purchased our freedom, from spiritual death, physical sickness, mental illness, and material lack.

Galatians 3:13 says,
"Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written "Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree."

The word "redeemed" here is actually a stronger word than bought, and it actually means to purchase out or redeem away from.

YOU ARE FREE
In Deuteronomy 28, you will see everything that the curse of the law has to offer. Sickness, poverty, and lack are all included in the curse. And we have been purchased out and away from it all.

I want to boldly proclaim something to you today: that Christ has purchased you out of, and away from, the curse of sickness in all its forms. Glory to God! You have been set free; your healing is paid for.

Now when the devil tries to imprison you with sickness, poverty, pain, or any other curse that is in the law, just remind him, and yourself, that Jesus has already paid for your freedom!

You don't have to get entangled again into that bondage, FOR YOU ARE FREE!

YOU ARE BLESSED

GOD CAN! BUT WILL HE?

“And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.” (Luke 5:12-13)

Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost. (Luke 19:10) Throughout the Gospels we constantly see Him being moved with compassion. He never backed down when facing some of the most difficult and challenging problems. Whatever He faced, He demonstrated that faith in God our Father would free suffering humanity and cause us to overcome.

One of the most challenging conditions to overcome during His time of ministry in Israel was leprosy. Mycobacterium leprae, the infectious bacterial agent of leprosy, is a debilitating disease.

Leprosy literally terrified humanity. It did not kill, but neither did it seem to end. Instead, it lingered for years, causing the tissues to degenerate, deforming the body.

Individuals with leprosy experience disfigurement of the skin and bones, the twisting of the limbs, and curling of the fingers. Facial changes happened as well; including thickening of the outer ear and collapsing of the nose.

Tumor-like growths called lepromas formed on the skin and in the respiratory tract, and the optic nerve located in the back of the eye would deteriorate. The largest number of deformities would develop from loss of pain sensation due to extensive nerve damage.

From the moment leprosy was pronounced upon a person, it was their death sentence. There was no natural remedy for the leper.

In the Old Testament God had given the Israelite's specific instructions on how to deal with leprosy and other kinds of skin infections (Leviticus 13). Anyone suspected of having this disease had to go to a priest for examination (Leviticus 13:2-3). If the person was found to be infected then he ;
“..shall wear torn clothes and let the hair of his head hang loose, and he shall cover his upper lip and cry out, ‘Unclean, unclean.’ He shall remain unclean as long as he has the disease. He is unclean. He shall live alone. His dwelling shall be outside the camp” (Leviticus 13:45-46).
The person who had leprosy was considered utterly unclean—physically and spiritually.

Incurable by man, many believed the curse of leprosy came upon that person for the sins he committed. In fact, those with leprosy were so despised and loathed that they were not allowed to live in any community with their own people (Numbers 5:2).

Among the Jewish laws, leprosy was second only to a dead body. A leper wasn’t allowed to come within six feet of any other human, including his own family. The disease was considered so revolting that the leper wasn’t permitted to come within 150 feet of anyone when the wind was blowing. They were utterly separated and banished!

Biblical leprosy is a powerful symbol reminding us of sin’s infectious spread and its horrible consequences. Like leprosy, sin is an infection which enters the heart. It starts out small, a simple thought which contradicts the Word of God, but then spreads into our minds, our bodies, and our relationships. It leads to other sins, causing great damage, separating us from God our Father, our family, and our friends.

In Matthew 8:1-4, and Luke 5:12-16 we read the account of the first Leper who choose to approach Jesus. Here was a man utterly helpless, with the seal of death upon him. But yet he heard of Jesus. Was there hope? Could Jesus help him? Could he be cleansed of this defilement? Could he get his life back? If only he could get to Jesus.

The difficulty of this quest was enormous. He would be breaking the laws of the land. He would have to go through the embarrassment of being seen in this condition, and yelling out to everyone “Unclean, Unclean.”

He had heard of Jesus. What he heard, he believed. He believed that Jesus had the power to heal him, but would He? It didn’t matter, for his faith created hope, which caused him to act, to leave his place of banishment and run to Jesus. Despising the shame and anxiety of being a leper, he pressed on.

Listen, even though the difficulty of your situation may be tremendous, when your faith lays hold on the promise of God, it will cause you to act with hope and expectancy. When you act in faith those impossibilities must yield to His Word!

Early that morning while waiting for the appearing of Jesus crowds gathered at the foot of a mountain in anticipation. They were so taken up with watching for Jesus that they did not notice the leper there among them.

The thought of seeing Jesus so filled their hearts and minds; they were too focused on the life Giver to notice the unclean person that was among them. As the leper stayed close, hiding in the shadows and in the midst of the crowd, his eyes were seeking the Lord as well.

Then as Jesus appeared, walking towards them from His place of prayer, the crowd through shear excitement begins to press in closer to the foot of the mountain. The leper in his weakened condition is now being pushed and squeezed back from being able to reach Jesus. The reality of his condition is now taking its toll. He is finding out that his attempt at hiding is hurting him more and more with each passing moment. He knew that he was not supposed to be near these people, let alone be shoulder to shoulder with them. And now he is being blocked from reaching Jesus. What could he do? He has come so far.

He quickly realized he would either have to reveal himself by confessing who he was or he would be forced to stay in this dreadful painful condition. He would have to risk it all. He would have to shout out those embarrassing words that would expose his condition. He would have to shout “Unclean, unclean”. What would the people do? What would Jesus do?

Time is running out. He makes his decision,… he is risking it all. Just as Jesus approaches the crowd he begins shouting: “UNCLEAN, UNCLEAN”. The crowd suddenly and chaotically scatters in fear, leaving him alone, exposed and vulnerable.

He has to act quickly before the shock of his presence wares off. Then he realizes that there is one still standing there. There is one who didn’t run. There is one that didn’t judge. It is Jesus! It is the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, just standing there looking at him in love. He isn’t moved by his condition. He doesn’t seem angry or afraid. In fact it is as if He is waiting for him to come to Him.

With no one blocking his path, he makes his move as fast as he can. No one can stop a man, whose heart is set on reaching Jesus! He runs and falls on his face before Jesus beseeching Him saying: “…Lord, if thou wilt thou canst make me clean.” (Luke 5: 12)

What a risk this man took. It could have meant his life. But what kind of life did he have anyway? He was in bondage, suffering, isolated and alone.

Through a lack of self -esteem and self worth he may have been thinking maybe this was Gods will for him, or maybe he did something to deserve this. Who knows exactly what he was thinking, but we do know that he didn’t know if it was the Lords will to heal him.

Many today are wondering the same thing. Is it Gods will to heal me? Is this disease or sickness Gods way of teaching me something? Am I worthy or important enough to be healed by the Lord?

The answer the Lord gives this man should answer like questions others have had concerning the Lords will in forgiveness and healing.

“And he (Jesus) put forth his hand and touched him…” (Luke 5:13)

This is important. The first thing Jesus did was to reach out and touch the man. He was not supposed to do this, after all this disease is very contagious. Didn’t Jesus know that by touching him, He was putting Himself at risk to contract this disease? Of course He did, but it didn’t matter. Jesus had other priorities that directed His life.

First of all He said in John 5:19 that He only did what He saw his Father do, and in John 8:26 He said that He only says what He hears His Father say. So when Jesus reached out and touched this man in his condition, it literally was the Father reaching out and touching him with His unconditional love.

By touching this man, Jesus was showing him his value. He was communicating to him that he was important to the Father, and that he mattered. This should reassure us that the Father is not afraid to touch us in our uncleanness, in our sin. Even if we are rejected by man, and an outcast in society, He is always ready through Jesus Christ to reach out and embrace us with His love.

Secondly Jesus went on to say in Luke 5:13; “... I will, be thou clean.” This should forever silence the critics that say it’s not Gods will to heal.

When Jesus said “I will”, it was literally God the Father saying “I will”.

THE FATHERS WILL IS HEALING!
 IT IS RECONCILIATION.

HE WANTS US FREE!
He knows exactly what Word you need to hear to believe! This man believed Jesus could, but he didn’t believe He would. When Jesus spoke those words “I will, be thou clean”, faith was formed in this man’s heart.

As a result this man received his healing! Echoing the words of His Father, and through His loving touch, Jesus was able to reach this man’s heart and cleanse him from his condition.

It happened immediately. He didn’t have to wait for it. He didn’t have to beg for it. He didn’t have to earn it. It was instantaneous.

This is such a loving powerful picture of the Father’s will in action toward His children through Jesus Christ.

Whatever sin you are in bondage too, whatever sickness, addiction, or crises you are experiencing, our Fathers will is for you to be free. Your condition does not repulse Him! He does not reject you! Through His Word and through His loving touch He will cleanse you and make you right!

The central truth here is God the Father, through Jesus Christ, not only can heal, but will heal all those that seek Him. He will cleanse us from all unrighteousness making us right with His righteousness.

Instead of running from the Father, we should run to Him, allowing Him to do what only He can do, and that is to heal our hearts, and make us whole.

GODS WORD IS MEDICINE

By Rory Synoground
"My son attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh."  (Proverbs 4:20-23)

One of the ways we know that it is Gods perfect will for you to be healed, and to walk in divine health, is that He said that His Word is health to all our flesh.

This word “health” here in the Hebrew also means medicine. Like natural medicine aids us in receiving our healing, Gods Word, when taken appropriately, will heal our fleshly bodies as well.

In Hebrews 4:12 we read where the Word of God is alive, and full of creative power. What kind of power is He talking about here? He is talking about a creative yoke destroying power!

Isaiah 10:27 says; “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.” Glory to God, the YOKE shall be DESTROYED.

Sickness is a yoke. It weighs you down. It places limitations on your life, and keeps you bound. To believe that your sickness is the will of God is to believe a lie straight from the pit of hell. The Word states very clearly and boldly here in Proverbs 4, that GODS WORD IS MEDICINE TO ALL YOUR FLESH! God’s will is healing! He wants YOU FREE!

Sometimes people think; “Okay, I’m going to try this faith healing stuff to see if it works.” And when healing doesn’t come, or stay; they get discouraged, and begin to believe the temporary circumstance, instead of the eternal Word of God.

Proverbs 4:20 says; “My son ATTEND to my word—“ The word “ATTEND” here means; “to become joined with, or give your full attention too.”

Listen when we are dealing with sickness, disabilities, or any other bodily ailment, we need to become joined with, and give our full attention to God’s Word, instead of allowing our heart and mind to become joined with that ailment. We need to quit giving that sickness our attention.

We must become one with the Word of God. We must become so Word of God minded, Word of God centered, that we come to a place in our lives where the Word of God begins to govern our thoughts and actions. We must come to a state of mind where we are habitually and sub consciously thinking about the Word of God every second of every minute of every day.

Look at what God instructed Joshua to do, at the most critical hour of Joshua’s life. In Joshua 1:8 we read: “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do all that is written therein: for then thou halt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

What was God telling Joshua to do? He was revealing to Joshua how to place His Word in his heart. He was literally showing Joshua how to create a new heart where the Spirit of God could flow through him to take the land! He was instructing him to become one with His Word.

Joshua had many responsibilities. He was the leader of a governmental system that directed the actions of an entire nation of people. You know He was busy with the affairs of this leadership position 24hrs a day. Yet God instructed Joshua to begin thinking on and meditating in His Word day and night.

Joshua could have argued and thought this to be impossible with all he had to do, yet the Bible declares, that with God all things are possible to him that believes. (Mark 9:23) So this is exactly what Joshua did. As a result he had great success.

Ezekiel 18:31 declares; “Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit:….”

Yes it is possible through the power and ability of God’s Word to create in you a new heart. To develop your thinking patterns to where His Word is on the forefront of your mind every minute of the day. To change your perception, and cause you to be able to observe to do His Word, thereby releasing the Spirit of God in your life!

When you actively participate in mediating in the Word of God day and night, you literally begin positioning yourself to qualify for the next step of Proverbs 4:20 to take place in your life.

“Incline your ear unto My SAYINGS, . . .” Once you become joined with His written Word in your heart, where His Word has you full attention, you are then able to incline you ear unto His SAYINGS. The word “Incline” here means: “stretch, to extend, to open.” We can open our ears to hear what God is personally saying to us.

So not only must we hear the written Word of God spoken to us, but we also must hear what God is saying personally to us.

We must do exactly what Deuteronomy 28:1 commands us to do. “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the VOICE OF THE LORD thy God, to observe and to do all His commandments which I command thee this day, that the lord thy God will set thee on high. . .And all these blessings shall come on thee and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the VOICE OF THE LORD thy God. . . Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body. . .”

You see we must live our life in a way that we become so Word of God centered that we can hear what the Spirit of the Lord is saying to us. God will speak directly to you about your condition. This is where your victory comes. In the secrete place of hearing your loving Fathers voice speaking to you personally. It is when you hear what He is saying to YOU and act on that command, that you’ll release the blessing of the Lord.

Romans 10:17 says “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” The word “word” is the Greek word “Rhema”which means “the spoken Word of God.”

This is not only talking about you hearing the written Word of God, but it also reveals God Himself speaking directly to you. It is when you hear HIS VOICE speaking His Word to you,  that faith comes. And it is this faith, formed from the spoken word of God, which overcomes the world! (1 John 5:4)

We can’t just try the Word of God to see if it works. It must become our heart!

Allow His Word to create in you a new heart. Allow His Word to go to work in your life. Know that for whatever sickness, disease, disability, or illness the devil has out there, Gods Word spoken to you has the power to utterly destroyed it and free you from it.

God’s Word is LIFE AND MEDICINE to your body. Begin walking in the liberty where Christ has made you free by taking His Word as medicine today! (Galatians 5:1).

FAITH MAKES A DEMAND

“And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.

And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.

And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.”
(Luke 8:43-48)

Many times while praying for individuals who are seeking healing, I have literally sensed energy or power flowing through me and into the person I am praying for. I literally feel the anointing of God surge down my arms through my hands and flow into the person as I touch them.

It is much like the example of the woman who had the issue of blood. When she reached out in faith, and touched Jesus, virtue or power went out of Him and into her. “And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue (POWER) is gone out of me” (Luke 8:46.)

You can always tell when faith is in operation. Faith always draws upon the power or ability of God. In this case, the women with the issue of blood made a demand on the healing power of God and it healed her body immediately.

Now what’s interesting in this situation is that she did not even ask Jesus if He would or if it was His will.

She simply had a belief that if she just touched the hem of his garment she would be healed. We could study what the hem of his garment was, but we would be missing out on a kingdom principle. It was not the garment that healed this woman.

Jesus said in Luke 8:48; “… Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.”

Jesus said it was her faith that made her whole. Why, because faith in action makes a demand on the power of God. Her faith received POWER from Jesus which entered her body and healed her.

Individuals who have come to me or any other person for prayer are doing the same thing. Like the woman in Luke 8 they make a demand on Gods power by faith.

As I have prayed for people, I have seen some sense the power of God flow into their body. I seen them laugh, cry, smile, or even fall down under such an overwhelming move of Gods anointing at work.

As a result they walk away healed and restored to health! Sometimes I have them do the very thing that their condition was preventing them from doing.

For example, I have had people read, who couldn’t read, listen for sounds who could not hear, walk, who could not walk, move an arm or leg, when they could not move that extremity before.

Sometimes the pain that was in their body just leaves and the person starts moving or touching that part of their body, praising God.

Unfortunately there have been other times that I have prayed for individuals and I sense the power of God flowing through me and into them, and that anointing just stops. His power literally just stops at the point of impact, and at times I have even sensed His anointing come back into my hands.

What happened? Well, I was acting on the command and promise of Mark 16:18. My faith was in operation. By laying my hands on the sick for them to recover in the name of Jesus I was making a deman on the power of God. Gods healing power was on the scene to produce results. But because the individual did not believe, and make a demand on that power as well, NO HEALING took place.

Is this scriptural Rory, you may ask? If God wants me healed, won’t He just do it?

The truth is, according to 1 Peter 2:24, God has already paid for your healing. But if you don’t believe this, your unbelief will stop the power of God from being applied in this area of your life.

This even happened in the ministry of Jesus while He was physically present on this earth.

Look at Luke 5:17 “And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.”

Notice it says that the “power of the Lord was present to heal them.” God’s power was present to HEAL the Pharisees and doctors of the Law. Yet no one was healed. Why? Because even though Gods power was available, no one made a demand on it.

We know that the Pharisees and doctors of the law were some of the most unbelieving opponents of Jesus. They resisted His ministry and were always skeptical and full of doubt. They had no faith in Him or His Word. In this case it is recorded, that even though the power of God was available for them, they could not benefit from it because of their unbelief.

It wasn’t until a man, who was full of faith, came into the house before Jesus, that they would witness an awesome demonstration of Gods power.

Luke 5: 19-25; “And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. …, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee…But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.”

Jesus saw their faith. You see faith can be seen. We see faith in action through our words, and behavior. It was their visible faith that made a demand on the power of God that was available to heal the Pharisees and doctors of the law.

That power went to work and healed the man. Jesus said, “…that you may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth….He said unto the sick Arise and take up your bed and go. And immediately he rose up before them (did what he could not do before), and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.”

What an awesome display of Gods power. Again it was faith that made a demand on that power of God. You see it is evident that God has freely given us His power, life and ability to change any circumstance, forgive sin, and to heal our bodies. It is ours for the taking.

Unbelief blocks the power that God freely gives to us, whereas faith receives that power of God.

Learn how to form your faith in God, and you will begin seeing your faith make demands on God’s power to do the impossible in your life.
